MOLTEN OFFICIAL JB-77 BASKETBALL

Circa 1992

Sotheby's is proud to offer this basketball signed by the United States Men's Basketball Team that participated in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. The roster is widely regarded as the most influential ever assembled. Formed for the Barcelona Summer Games, the “Dream Team” marked the first time NBA players were allowed to compete in the Olympics, reshaping the global reach and perception of basketball.

Scottie Pippen recalled, "Having the opportunity to play on the Dream Team in ’92 was one of the highlights of my basketball career, and to do it on the international stage was special. That team helped globalize the game of basketball. We met players from all over the world, and now you see guys from every country playing in the NBA. We didn’t know that was going to happen back in ’92."

Led by Pippen, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird, the roster brought together multiple generations of greatness. Pippen stood out as one of the team’s most versatile players, providing defense, playmaking, and leadership. Jordan set the competitive tone, while Magic’s return to international play carried both cultural and sporting significance. Bird, nearing the end of his Hall of Fame career, contributed veteran leadership and timely shooting. The team was further strengthened by Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, John Stockton, David Robinson, Clyde Drexler, Chris Mullin, Patrick Ewing, and Christian Laettner—players already recognized as among the league’s best.

The Dream Team dominated in Barcelona, winning all eight games by an average of more than 40 points and capturing the gold medal with authority.

Signed by Scottie Pippen, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley, Larry Bird, Clyde Drexler, Patrick Ewing, Christian Laettner, Karl Malone, Chris Mullin, David Robinson, and John Stockton, this basketball comes directly from the Collection of Scottie Pippen.

The basketball is also accompanied by a letter from James Spence Authentication in regards to the signatures.
