"I can't really express the way I feel right now. We withstood the challenge of trying to repeat. A lot of teams threw everything they had at us, and it was a long year. We went through a long test of adversity, me as an individual and us as a team. But we stood tall at the end."

-Michael Jordan when interviewed by the NYT after the 1992 Championship

The 1992 NBA Championship season was one of the toughest of the Chicago Bulls’ six-title run. Coming off their first championship, the Bulls entered the year with expectations firmly on their shoulders. The challenge was no longer proving they could win once, but showing they could sustain success. The postseason that followed was physical and hard-fought, with momentum swinging from series to series, before the Bulls ultimately secured the franchise’s first back-to-back championships. Scottie Pippen was central to that run, providing consistent two-way impact throughout the playoffs and Finals.

The shorts were worn in game 1 of the 1992 NBA Finals, an important home win to set the tone. On June 3, 1992 when the Bulls beat the Trail Blazers in a decisive 33 point win, 122-89. Pippen had one of his best games of the finals, finishing with a double-double with 24 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists,1 steal, and 1 block. The Bulls went on to win the series in 6 games and clinch the back-to-back.

Earlier in the postseason, these shorts were worn during two important Eastern Conference Finals games against the Cleveland Cavaliers. On May 27, 1992, in Game 5, with the series tied 2-2, Pippen recorded a double-double, finishing with 14 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. The Bulls won 112–89, a win that helped Chicago seize control of the series and take a 3-2 lead. Additionally it was worn in Game 2 on May 21, 1992 when Chicago lost to the Cavaliers, 107-81. Pippen finished with 11 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.

The shorts were also worn during the clinching game of the physically taxing Eastern Conference Semifinals against the New York Knicks. On May 17, 1992, during the crucial Game 7 of this hard fought series, Pippen helped lead the Bulls to a 110–81 victory with a triple-double of 17 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, and 3 steals. Possibly one of the hardest series of the Bulls 6 championship run, the 1992 Knicks with Patrick Ewing and John Starks took the Bulls to 7 games.

In the first round of the playoffs that year, the Bulls swept the Heat in 3 games. These shorts were worn in game 2, in which Pippen scored an impressive 30 points and finished it out with 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 1 block in the Bulls’ 120-90 win.

Anchored by Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan, the Bulls elevated their standard throughout the 1991–92 season. Pippen continued to solidify his role as one of the league’s most elite two-way players within Phil Jackson’s triangle offense while Jordan captured his second consecutive NBA Most Valuable Player award and Finals MVP honors. Both were named NBA All-Stars, and Jackson coached the Eastern Conference squad after Chicago entered the break with the league’s best record.

The 1992 championship gave Chicago its first back-to-back titles and confirmed the start of the Bulls’ dynasty. Worn during key games of that postseason, these Bulls shorts represent an important period in the team’s history. It reflects Scottie Pippen’s role at his peak and captures the Bulls as their long-term legacy was taking shape.
