This dynamic composition appears to show the Trojan hero Achilles riding his chariot into battle. It compares with the relief of Alexander the Great in the Triumphal Chariot made by the great Neoclassical sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen for his famous Alexander frieze in Palazzo Quirinale, Rome (compare with the example in the Thorvaldsens Museums, inv. no. A504). The comparison indicates a dating to the early 19th century and suggests that it was probably engraved in Rome.
