Rolex launched the reference 16710 in 1989 and produced it until 2007. It superseded the reference 16760 which was dubbed the 'Fat Lady' by collectors due to its larger proportions. The reference 16710 therefore has an attractive, slimmer case design. Originally equipped with tritium dials such as the present one, it later received an upgrade to Luminova and subsequently to Super-Luminova.
One of the most recognizable features of the GMT-Master is its bezel, which came in three versions: red and blue (Pepsi), black and red (Coke) such as the present example or plain black. The present example is further accompanied by its Rolex guarantee from 1994 and its presentation case.
