A James I black and gilt japanned table cabinet, probably London, circa 1620


decorated with figures in landscapes within broad foliate decorated borders and foliate reserves, the triangular pediment fitted with a small drawer above a pair of cupboard doors opening to reveal an arrangement of ten small drawers around a central cupboard door, the interior and sides with conforming decoration

75cm. high, 57cm. wide, 30.5cm. deep; 2ft. 5½in., 1ft. 10½in., 1ft.

Please note that the present cabinet was not that exhibited in Alabama in 1991 and does not feature in the accompanying exhibition catalogue, as is recorded in our printed catalogue. This was a similar cabinet from the same workshop as the present lot.
