Additional illustrated title, colophon in red ink in unidentified hand. original half green cloth, marbled boards, printed paper spine label, some rubbing and wear, paper label discolored and chipped, inner hinge cracked. Slipcase.

First edition. Copy 158 of 450 copies for the United States (of a whole edition of 600), signed by Whitman on the title. Whitman compiled this collection using corrected sheets of the 1882 Philadelphia edition of Leaves of Grass, the altered plates of the 1883 Glasgow edition of Specimen Days, and the 1888 first edition of November Boughs.
