Description

the waisted dark-green jade hilt with carved flutes and inlaid with gold lines and bands of split-palmettes, the straight double-edged steel blade with carved foliate motifs and wholly decorated with gold inscriptions and foliate details, the carved and chased silver scabbard adorned with emeralds, rubies and diamonds on one side, in bespoke velvet-lined, leather-covered wood case

On one side of the blade, a Turkish couplet:
'May you always [live] in taste and purity,
May your life increase from day to day.'

On the other side of the blade:
'May you come in happiness,
May you leave in peace.
