This painting would appear to derive from the same source as the work on panel, of a smaller size, and more closely-cropped in composition, in the Alte Pinakothek, Munich (inv. no. 1143), which appears to be earlier in date, and is attributed to a follower of Ambrosius Benson (fig. 1).1
