L
aura Berger’s sensuous paintings explore themes of interdependence and self-understanding. The artist’s compositions feature figurative archetypes, intuitive colour palettes and dreamlike minimalistic environments. Initially approaching painting as a therapeutic practice, Berger’s work articulates experiences and memories that feel just out of reach—perhaps existing on a more spiritual or emotional plane. Based in Chicago, USA, Berger’s work blurs the lines between the arts and crafts by drawing minor, playful characters that inspire a childlike curiosity. Solo exhibitions of Berger’s have occurred at Hashimoto Contemporary in New York City (2020) and Hashimoto Contemporary in San Francisco (2018).
