Dear Helen and Reg,
How I wish you could have been with us at the opening of Rubin's large restrospective show at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem! Before the official opening by the Mayor, the Prime Minister gave a reception in Rubin's honour at his home for 300 invited guests. They never before had such attendance at an exhibition, and now at the Tel Aviv Museum, the same interest continues on.
Everyone stops to gaze at your painting of the Blue Horses (no. 88 in the catalogue), and it is tremendously admired by all. On the reproduction (what a pity it is in black and white, for it is the colour that plays such a role!), it is called Sunset in the Negev. But no matter what its title, it is powerful and beautiful.
