Detail of the present work
In the Cestas Lunares, the surfaces are hosts for the emergence of geometric images—the circle of sun and moon, the arc and swirl of energies and water. Forms within forms is an archetypal and succinct way of expressing the infinite; it leads to the mandala, whose entwined circle and square inform Amaral's celestial bodies bounded by the rectilinear weaving...With this series Amaral announces that the thaumaturgical object is the matrix of image, the point of origin and conception that makes images, and by implication memory and thought, possible.
