Among all the complications that are known to the world of horology, the repeating mechanism is one that is recognised with the highest regards and accolades due to the complexity of balancing the movement in a wearable case and while having an audible tone. With origins of the first known repeaters dating back to the 1600s for the purpose of telling t.mes when streetlights were rare and candles being precious, chiming watches were a logical solution. Today, this complication has evolved from a necessity into a living art-form, the criteria of a repeater has also changed significantly where connoisseurs would evaluate the quality by the intensity, rhythm, harmony and resonant of the sound and only when all four components are met would Patek Philippe deliver their minute repeaters to their clients.
The present watch reference 5307, is an extremely rare example of a modern Patek Philippe “Grande Complication” which traditionally involves complications from three families: chronograph, chiming and calendars. The present watch however would not include chronograph but instead incorporates the tourbillon movement written on the dial and visible through the sapphire crystal display back.
Introduced in 2013 and was only available for approximately 2 short years, the present watch representing the pinnacle of modern watchmaking is encased in a luxurious platinum case with engravings to the band and fitted with 40 baguette diamonds set on the bezel and buckle.
Presented in brand new condition, the watch is complete with all original accessories. This reference is also the first t.mes
offered on the market.
