The present work, judging by its size and drawing style, is taken from one of the many early sketchbooks which Gaudier filled with studies of local events. These drawings were done in the early years of his t.mes in England, arriving in London in 1910, and this small study is typical of his drawing style at this t.mes . His later more fluent line drawings were founded on these early studies attempting to capture the local scenes around him.
