Now the director of the Lucian Freud Archive, Dawson reveals how Freud’s late portrait etchings capture the physical, psychological and emotional conditions of his sitters, including his daughter Bella, his stepson Kai and his mother Lucie Freud. Beyond his family, Freud conveyed the humanity of other subjects close to him, including his lawyer Lord Goodman, his art dealer William Acquavella and his muse ‘Big Sue’ Tilley.
