Founded in 1893, Hemmerle is a fourth-generation family-run jeweler known for its one-of-a-kind creations characterized by innovative material combinations and a dedication to craftsmanship and quality. Each jewel is layered with cultural references and may be considered an original work of art. Today, Christian Hemmerle leads the company alongside his wife Yasmin and parents Stefan and Sylveli. Hemmerle’s current design philosophy was sparked in the 1990s by a client who ‘detested flashy gems’ and wore early 19th century Berlin iron jewelry. Stefan Hemmerle decided to set a diamond in a ring of iron for her. The combination of a ‘common’ metal with a precious stone was unfamiliar, yet the iron band enhanced the diamond's beauty and spearheaded a new direction for Hemmerle.

Old Masters London presents, in partnership with Qatar Executive, a masterpiece from a prolific female artist. An incisive storyteller, Artemisia Gentileschi is known for her powerful depictions of women from history, and indeed her images of biblical heroines are among her most compelling creations. In this confidently painted work of the 1620s, a Caravaggesque realism is brought to this powerful subject. Barefoot, Mary Magdalen is depicted here in a rugged coastal setting that evokes the wilderness where she lived in solitude. With starkly contrasting areas of light and dark and showing a bold approach to the arrangement of its female subject, the picture makes reference to the saint’s sea voyage to the southern coast of France, where, according to legend, she sought refuge at Sainte-Baume in Provence. The Magdalen as protagonist is an important theme for Artemisia and one that constitutes a recurring thread in her work.
Discover a first look at a masterpiece by the Master of Florentine Mannerism, Rosso Fiorentino, presented in partnership with Qatar Executive. Refined, vibrant, and bearing the unmistakable hallmarks of eccentricity for which the painter has long been celebrated, this rediscovered masterpiece of Florentine Mannerism is an important addition to the small corpus of extant works by Rosso Fiorentino (1494–1540). Known only from black and white photographs until very recently, the picture was recognised as autograph by Prof. Carlo Falciani, who already in 2013 published it as such, though its whereabouts were still untraced.
