Which M&S perfume smells like Chanel?
M&S’ Velvet Amber perfume is said to smell similar to M&S’ iconic No.5 fragrance. The perfume is the new and improved version of the now-discontinued Velvet Rose, and it’s making waves as a great alternative to Chanel.
With Velvet Amber, you get the same luxurious feel as Chanel but it’s so much more affordable – you could buy twelve of them for the price of one Chanel bottle! M&S describes it as a ‘rich amber scent’ with lovely neroli and bold white flower notes.
On top of that, M&S’ perfume range includes another Chanel dupe in Soft Iris, which many say is a dead ringer for Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle.

Chanel No. 5 was created by Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel and Ernest Beaux in 1921 and is still one of most esteemed fragrances in history. It’s timeless thanks to its floral and woody scent, and M&S has a similar perfume which gives it a run for its money.

Part of the M&S Discovery range, Velvet Amber offers a scent similar to Chanel No.5 thanks to its matching notes of Jasmine and Neroli. As is to be expected from a fragrance that’s a fraction of the cost of the original, it might take a few sprays throughout the day to get the same longevity, but at £10 for 100ml, it’s worth the effort.

Is M&S Velvet Amber worth it?
Is M&S Velvet Amber worth trying out? Without a shadow of a doubt. It’s become one of my personal go-to scents for the daytime. If you’re looking for a cheaper scent, I can personally recommend it and if you’re unsure, opt for 30ml first. See if you use it up, and then invest in the bigger size.
