Are Leather Jackets Still in Style in 2024?
Is the style staple still in?
You can instantly toughen any outfit with the help of a leather jacket. Thrown over a cute spring dress or a simple tee and jeans, they’re so easy to wear. Stars such as Beyoncé, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid have long been fans of the outerwear, and if they’re good enough for them, they’re good enough for us. So there’s no denying that leather jackets are style staples. But are they actually on trend in 2024?
Leather jackets first emerged as a fashion icon in the early 20th century, initially gaining popularity as functional attire for aviators and motorcyclists. By the 50s and 60s, they had cemented their place in pop culture and fashion, symbolizing rebellion and coolness.
Fast forward to 2021, leather jackets have not only maintained their status but have also evolved to match the changing trends. We’ve seen cropped fits, more vibrant palettes, and eco-friendly materials. They remained highly fashionable over the last few years, embracing both classic and innovative designs that resonated with contemporary trends.
As we all know, the fashion landscape is ever-evolving, with new coats and jackets emerging each season. From oversized blazers to puffer jackets, the competition is fierce. This raises the question: with so many options, is it wise to invest in a leather jacket now? As someone who’s keeping tabs on the latest in fashion, I’m here to give you the dibs on the current state of leather jackets in 2024.

Are leather jackets in style for 2024?
Leather jackets will continue to be in style for 2024. In fact, they’re classics now!
Based on what I’ve seen on the Spring/Summer 2024 collections, prominent designers are still in love with them. Louis Vuitton is bringing back classic biker styles and bomber jackets and pairing them with flowy skirts and dresses. Miu Miu is adding a pop of color with cropped jackets in red and green, while The Attico is going big with oversized leather jackets that make a statement with bold shoulders. Reformation is also introducing eco-friendly leather jackets that look good and feel good.
While classic styles like the OG biker leather jacket is still strong, new trends are emerging in 2024. We’ve seen jackets with personalized statements in the form of hand-painted designs, graffiti-inspired motifs, and bold graphics. Oversized and cropped leather jackets are becoming increasingly popular, too—perfect for layering over different outfits.
With the shift to a more conscious mindset for consumption, we’ve also seen more sustainable iterations of the long-favoured trend. Faux and vegan leather isn’t just cheaper, but they’re cruelty-free too.

What jackets are in style for 2024?
As well as leather jackets, bomber jackets are at the top of the trend lists for 2024. The racer bomber jackets, with those long zippers and sleek look, are everywhere. And for a fancier vibe, we’ve got wool and satin bombers that add a bit of class to any outfit.
Cropped jackets remain on the scene, offering variety from cargo pockets to satin anoraks. Oversized blazers? Absolutely still in, alongside cropped blazers.
Denim jackets continue as a staple, with every style from classic to distressed making the cut. For something a bit different, check out shaggy bomber jackets and furry stoles.
Then of course there are the classics that never date, such as trenches, blazers and teddy coats.
Are leather blazers in style for 2024?
Just like their jacket counterparts, leather blazers will be a must-have in 2024. The styles worn by the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Drew Barrymore in the height of the rom-com era will still be sought-after. These pieces have been gaining momentum over the past few years, and for good reason. Thanks to the comeback of the 90s and Y2K style, their return to the spotlight is firmer (and longer).
The oversized cut is still where it’s at, giving you that laid-back yet put-together vibe that’s ideal for layering. Leather blazers are popping up in bold colors, unexpected textures, and even with some artsy touches that let your personal style shine.
For those who like the classics, tailored leather blazers are still in the scene. But if you’re into the latest trends, cropped leather blazers and double-breasted styles are making their mark, perfect for adding a contemporary edge to your outfit.
