The accessory has made a mainstream comeback since poet Amanda Gorman wore a padded red headband from Prada during the inauguration of US President Joe Biden earlier this year.

Searches for the headband rose by 560% when she was seen wearing it, according to Lyst, rising again when she stepped out in a yellow version soon after.

People were as crazy for the yellow plaited and embellished headpiece as they were for the red one and the hair accessory favourite started trending again.

Not long after the comeback of the headband, the Gossip Girl reboot premiered. Coincidence? I think not.

The accessory was regularly worn by preppy lead character of the first series Blair Waldorf, played by Leighton Meester back then.

Nowadays you can barely wear one without referencing the Upper East Side socialite, so the series’ return definitely has a part to play in its return.

This time around, the headband is getting an extravagant update. Embellishment in the form of studs, pearls and gems is big, while huge padded styles are trending thanks to Prada.
