Autumn hit us like a tonne of bricks, bringing with it a host of new trends including quilted vests.

Quilted textures and puffer jackets are set to be one of the key trends for AW21, after they appeared at the Prada, Givenchy, Marni, Balenciaga, Chanel and Louis Vuitton shows.

One trend we didn’t see coming out of it is quilted vests. While the padded pieces have been around for some time, they’re usually reserved for country walks and affectionately labelled ‘body warmers’.

Fortunately, they’ve had a fashion update for 2021. After Résumé Copenhagen’s floral quilted vests were spotted on countless influencers last winter, it seems to have had a rippling effect.

Other Stories and Neon Rose have dropped iterations of the floral waistcoat, while Zara and Mango have kept their vests simple in neutral and black hues.

They also come in a range of lengths and shapes, with boxy fits being the favourites.

If you’re wondering how on earth to wear quilted vests to make them less farmer, more fashion, I recommend wearing them over dresses and skirts. This gives a more feminine twist on the country classic.
