Black Friday and Cyber Monday are edging closer and if you’re a fan of Urban Outfitters, you’re probably wondering what the high street giant has in store. Here, I’m sharing everything you need to know, including when Black Friday starts, how much you can save and how long the sale will last.

Urban Outfitters is known for its trend-led pieces, but some items never date. Band tees, chunky knits and jeans are just some of their best pieces. Black Friday and Cyber Monday is often heavily criticised for promoting overconsumption, but I believe there are ways to make it work for you and be mindful at the same time. I’m not intending to overspend on things I’ll throw away in a year’s time, and I don’t encourage you to either. I’m looking for timeless and long lasting items that I’ll wear until they wear out (then get repurposed or recycled).

It’s easy to get overwhelmed though, so it’s best to do your research ahead of the sale and to plan accordingly. If there’s a coat or dress you’ve been after for a long time but don’t want to spend more than you need to, it’s worth your while waiting for the sale. What is Black Friday?

Black Friday is an annual shopping event that occurs on the last Friday of November, the day after Thanksgiving. During Friday and often the weekend too, retailers always offer huge discounts and promotions, both in-store and online. Black Friday is widely known as a popular opportunity for shoppers to find deals and start their holiday shopping, and the name symbolises the shift from financial losses to profits for retailers due to the high sales volume during this period. Cyber Monday then comes the following week and is when all of the discounts are held exclusively online. At 11.59 on Cyber Monday, all the discounts end.

When is Black Friday?

Black Friday is held the day after Thanksgiving every year, which is the last Friday in November. In 2024, this is on November 29th. Cyber Monday then happens the following Monday, which is December 2nd, 2024.

These days brands don’t just offer discounts on the day itself. You can expect huge discounts for the whole of Black Friday week at brands like Farfetch, ASOS, Mango and more.

Will Urban Outfitters have a Black Friday sale in 2024? Our prediction

Urban Outfitters takes part in both Black Friday and Cyber Monday every year. In fact, right now you can shop from the sale with up to 40% across womenswear, menswear and home. We’re expecting the deals to get bigger and better as the day gets closer too. Last year, UO offered up to 50% off their most-wanted styles, vintage pieces and homeware, as well as their bestselling brands like Champion, BDG, iet frans…and FILA. If you’re a rewards member, you were offered an extra 20% off the sale too!

How long does the Urban Outfitters Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale last? Our prediction

We’re predicting the sale to end at midnight on Cyber Monday. Many brands increase their sale offerings for Cyber Monday, so there’s potential for UO to do the same.

Is the sale also applied to brands at Urban Outfitters?

Yes. As well as UO’s own-brand items, you can usually find items from House of Sunny, Juicy Couture, Converse, iets frans…, FILA and many more in the sale.

As consumers are becoming savvier about the impact of overconsumption on our environment and the individuals working to produce garments, many brands have decided to boycott Black Friday this year.

We’re expecting this to include brands Monki, Next and Arket, all of which opted out of Black Friday in 2020.

While we don’t condone overspending, we do want fashion to be accessible to those on a low budget, as well as those who struggle to shop sustainably due to size constraints.
