Searches For This 70s-Inspired Dress Are Soaring
The 70s called, it wants its dresses back.
First it was halter tops, and now the 70s neckline is coming for our dresses too.
As we begin to slowly emerge from the pandemic, it seems appropriate that fashion is embracing the fun-loving attitude of the 70s. The minimalist aesthetic seems to slowly be disappearing and we’re embracing self-expression by wearing a whole host of colours, patterns and silhouettes.

Halter neck dresses are on the rise for SS21 and beyond, along with a whole host of 70s-inspired garments, including crochet dresses, flared pants and oversized sunglasses, as well as retro floral and marble prints.
Countless celebrities including Kylie Jenner, Hailey Bieber and Bella Hadid have all been wearing halter dresses this summer so it’s unsurprising that searches for the neckline are soaring.
In fact, the number of people looking up twisted halter neck pieces has increased by 24% from last year, according to Lyst. People are so into the chic look of these pieces and they’re on the hunt for ‘wrap’ and ‘scarf’ items too.
But it’s the dresses that are stealing our hearts, with Google searches for them rising 60% in the last 90 days, according to Google Trends. Of course, shoppers have been looking to high street heroes Zara and H&M for their halter neck fix, and they haven’t been left disappointed.
