At risk of sounding like a broken record, 90s fashion has never been this popular since the actual era. Now scarf tops are back with a vengeance to join chunky sandals, corsets and lace-up trousers.

While it’s easy to style a scarf as a top, if you don’t have any lying around or prefer something a little more secure, there are so many scarf-style tops available on the high street now with thin straps, halternecks and matching co-ord pieces. There are of course plenty of vintage options on Etsy too, offering a more authentic retro look.

It’s one of my favourite summer tops because it’s so versatile. I’ve seen some influencers layering theirs over shirts, adding baggy jeans or keeping it chic and sleek with white trousers. Not only that, but you can wear it to go out, for the beach or just for a heatwave-safe and lightweight option.

It comes as searches for twisted halternecks, scarf and wrap tops are on the rise. Lyst reported this week that searches for the former are up 24% in the past two weeks, while the latter are showing increasing popularity too.
